My husband is amazing.

He is the most attractive bearded man I have ever met and I am madly in love with him. He must feel the same way about me {minus the beard} because he bought me the camera of my dreams for Christmas… the NikonD7000.

Since he was responsible for now giving me the tools to push this passion of mine to the edge, he should have the honor of the first shoot. I have been dying to shoot in the snow, so as the snowflakes began to fall last weekend, we headed out in our 1969 bug, slid all over the road, and got to Lyons, CO, in one piece where the flakes were the size of nickels.

Jordan, you are mine… and I love you.

Justin is my brother-in-law, and Deanne will soon be my sister-in-law… so naturally this was a very fun/relaxed shoot. I had been trying for months to get these two pinned down, but let me tell you… they are seriously popular people because it was hard to find time with them! haha. Finally, we were able to make it and they let me choose the location. We moseyed around Main Street in Longmont, CO, looking for alleys and cool buildings.

In every session I do, I always try and ask my clients if there are any poses or spots they want just to make sure they are getting what they want. Deanne answered right away! She wanted a picture of Justin picking her up, and in my opinion, I think I got the shot she was looking for.

Justin&Deanne, I love you guys, and thanks for “pretending” to be so in love… oh wait, you are!

seven month old Ella.

As I look back at all the pictures I have taken of my little niece, Ella, I think these may win the prize. She is the happiest, most beautiful baby I have ever met, making my job as her photographer very easy! My kids (who aren’t even a thought in our mind) will have a very high cuteness level to live up to… eek!

the lamphere family.

In November, I photographed the Lamphere family… and they were hilarious. And even though Colorado has had no snow, it was the COLDEST week in November, so we were all freezing! Regardless of the cold, the Lamphere family was determined to have a good time in their matching gray and red sweaters.

The session started out normal and easy, and soon turned into a game of standing behind me to get each other to laugh while I was photographing them. My job was easy that day because they were completely themselves. The shoot was one of the most fun shoots I have had and they all turned out wonderful. Thank you Lamphere Family!

Audrey came to me a few weeks ago wanting family portraits and her own real-estate portraits as well. The previous post shows her and her model-esk family. They are really all so gorgeous. haha. On that same day, we were supposed to do her single portraits too but it was tooooooo friggid so we met up a few days later.

Audrey and I spent some time walking around Roger’s Grove in Longmont, CO and just took her picture all over in her cute little red coat (which I love and want for Christmas…cough*). The thing that I loved most about Audrey is her eyes. I know this might shock many viewers, but I barely touched her eyes at all in my edits. Audrey has eyes that photographers dream about!

Hope I don’t sound too creepy Audrey, but I enjoyed both shoots we did together! If anyone needs a house sold… call AUDREY CAYKO!

Saturday morning in Colorado, outside, at a gorgeous lake… and I looked at the temperature… 30 degrees…. AH! We clearly picked the wrong Saturday morning, but we made the best of it. Colorado weather is NEVER predictable.

We all got out of the cars and started our foggy, cold session, trying to make fun games to keep warm. Little 5 year old Kyler was fired up and ready to go because there was a prize at the end of the session, and mom and dad were just trying to keep little Kaiya from freezing her little fingers off. But we all came to the conclusion that it was miserable outside.

I was supposed to take Audrey’s pictures for her real-estate cards as well, but that was not going to happen with the friggid temps so we decided to do them another day (***Audrey’s portraits coming soon!).

Cayko family, thank you for rouging the cold with me, and still looking beautiful. I had fun!

This session was important to me because…

1. Heather has been my best friend since middle school.

2. I don’t get to shoot the wedding because I am IN IT!!!

So this engagement shoot was my present to them. Since my wedding in 2008, Heather has stood by my side and has been the one person I have kept in touch with since High School. I knew Collin was the one for awhile now and I was just waiting for the call on the day he proposed. I got a picture text at 7:45 am of this ROCK, and I literally screamed in my classroom. Good thing my students weren’t there because I would have scared them for sure!!! haha.

Heather, I love you more than you know. You mean the world to me. You will be breathtaking on your big day and you better find a photographer who will do a better job than me!

Collin, if you break her heart, I’ll kill you. Just Kidding… hehe.

Katie&Gabe

Towards the end of October I photographed Katie and her little model/amazingly adorable/man son, Gabe. It all began when I agreed to photograph her friend, Laura, and her family. Katie could not wait for her turn, and I had yet to meet Gabriel. So, one Sunday, we took a drive to Lyons, CO and walked around this huge park with a sparkling stream, mountains, yellow aspens, and places I felt like I could only dream about for pictures. It was paradise and I WILL be going back there for more shoots.

My favorite part about photographing Gabriel, was his smile. Every time I put the camera in Gabe’s face, I would say,

“Alright Gabe, now give me a big smile!”

and he would yell back,

“I AM!!!!”

Haha. He always thought he was smiling, when in fact, he was just staring at me. SO, our entire shoot was a 2 man circus: me & Katie jumping around like bafoons to try and make Gabriel smile… in the end, it came down to bribes. Oh well. Most kids shoots come to that.

Bethany&babies.

In October, I photographed Bethany and her adorable little ones, Amelia and Micah. Amelia jumped right out of the van and stole the show, while little Micah just sat there and smiled, unaware that I was putting a camera in his face. We decided to go to Macintosh Lake in Longmont, CO, since our first location wasn’t available, and although we had to go to Plan B, I think it was just what Bethany was hoping for! The lake was so low that it reminded me of being on a white sand beach, with the mountains in the background. I will most definitely be back there again soon!

Bethany, thank you for spending the morning with me, and your babies made beautiful models. You are blessed!
